The Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change is seeking to appoint a Policy Analyst to join our team. The Lancet Countdown is an independent and multidisciplinary collaboration based out of the UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH).

The post holder will work with the Lancet Countdown Policy Manager to engage with technical officers across key stakeholder organizations and with policy officers within our partner universities to maximize the impact of the Lancet Collaboration’s research.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The person in post will contribute to the policy engagement strategy and outreach activities of the Lancet Countdown, including the production of a series of policy briefs produced in collaboration with medical institutions across the world. As part of their role, they will support the Lancet Countdown’s network of academic experts, institutions, and NGO partners; as well as supporting Lancet Countdown Regional Centres and National Affiliates in the design and delivery of their policy engagement strategies. They will support the development of relationships with national and international policy makers and seek new opportunities to engage with stakeholders relevant to health and climate change.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will hold an Undergraduate degree in political sciences, international relations, public health, sustainable development or a related subject or equivalent experience. They will have:

  • Knowledge of policy engagement techniques and approaches and technical expertise in policy issues relating to climate change, sustainable development, or public health.
  • Experience in engaging with national or global policy processes either internally as a political aide or externally from an academic institution, think tank or NGO.
  • Experience of designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating a policy outreach and stakeholder engagement plan.
