In January 2021 we held our first webinar with CPD accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and CME accreditation from the Yale School of Medicine, co-hosting with the Yale School of Public Health Center on Climate Change and Health.
It explores in detail the sources of emissions within the health sector, presents the NHS as a case study, and provides practical advice and information on the role of the health professional in addressing the healthcare sector’s carbon footprint.
We had fantastic presentations and insights from:
Introduction and welcome: Dr. Renee N. Salas, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
The Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change: Dr. Alice McGushin, Programme Manager, the Lancet Countdown
Estimating Overall Emissions and Health Impacts of a National Health System: Dr. Matthew Eckleman, Northeastern University and Lancet Countdown author
Balancing Patient Safety and Pollution Prevention: Dr. Jodi Sherman, Yale University and Lancet Countdown author
Delivering a Net Zero NHS: Hiten Patel, Senior Strategy Advisor, Greener NHS Programme
Practical opportunities for healthcare professionals: Miss Jennifer Isherwood, National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow
Followed by a great panel discussion: The role of the health professional in mitigation in the healthcare sector and Q&A.

(The recording starts about 5 seconds in to Renee’s introduction.)
