VACANCY: We are seeking a Climate Change and Health Research Fellow to join our team!

The Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow on Climate Change and Health.

The appointee will join the Executive of the Lancet Countdown based out of University College London’s Institute for Global Health, working with the collaboration’s co-chairs – Professors Anthony Costello, Peng Gong, and Hugh Montgomery – and its Executive Director, to advance the Lancet Countdown’s academic work on global health and climate change.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The person in post will help deliver the research and academic initiatives of the Lancet Countdown, including the annual Global Lancet Countdown Report, Regional Reports, special issues, and additional academic and research outputs. This role is designed to ensure the activities of the Lancet Countdown can inform climate change action for health, and abide to the high standard of academic rigour and science. The appointee will be in charge off seeking out and coordinaing academic partnerships to support this aim. They will also have the opportunity to develop and expand a research program in the field of climate change and health in support of the overall Lancet Countdown aims and personal career development.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have MSc, and ideally a PhD in public health, global health, environmental epidemiology, or equivalent relevant experience. They will need excellent technical knowledge and working experience in the intersection between climate change and global health, and experience in the drafting of academic publications. They will also need excellent organisational skills, the capacity to help guide and coordinate the academic contributions of a broad, interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will also be enthusiastic and dynamic, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Joining a broad, international collaboration, they will need to be willing to occasionally join meetings outside of normal working hours, and willingness to travel occasionally for work purposes.
