Lancet Countdown London Launch With Christiana Figures

The lecture was opened by Dr Richard Horton, editor in chief of The Lancet, in front of 700 attendees at University College London’s Logan Hall, with thousands more live streaming around the world.

Ms. Figueres gave an enigmatic and optimistic talk mapping the multiple opportunities to promote health as a response to climate change, through enacting the 2015 ‘Paris Agreement’.  Responding comments were then provided by Dr Anthony Costello, Head of Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health at the World Health Organization, who acknowledged the importance of positive messaging in Global Health.

Dr. Horton then chaired questions for Ms. Figueres from an interactive crowd, followed by concluding remarks from UCL’s Institute for Global Health Professor Ibrahim Abubakar.
