Lancet Countdown 2019 Oslo Launch Event

The Lancet Countdown is a collaboration of over 100 leading experts from universities and UN agencies across the globe, bringing together climate scientists, engineers, energy, economists, political scientists, public health professionals, and doctors.  Each year the findings are published annually in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet ahead of the UN climate change negotiations.  The report makes clear how climate change is affecting our health, the consequences of delayed action and the health benefits of a robust response.

In the 2019 report, the Lancet Countdown has tracked 41 indicators across 5 key areas:

  • Public and political engagement
  • Climate change impacts, exposures, and vulnerability
  • Adaptation, planning, and resilience for health
  • Mitigation actions and health co-benefits
  • Finance and economics

The work aims to bridge the gap between policy, communications and research.  The Centre for Global Health at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health are pleased to host the Oslo launch of the 2019 report.
